Our Berg Hotel Kössler is located in the heart of Hintertux in the middle of Austria’s only year-round ski area. It is only 700 meters to the valley station of the majestic glacier. The valley descent ends just a few steps from our front door.
The slopes in Tuxertal
A look at the piste maps speaks volumes: 615 hectares of total piste area with over 200 kilometers of groomed slopes in all levels of difficulty, inviting natural snow and deep snow slopes. Even challenging mogul slopes want to be conquered. 66 state-of-the-art lifts make for perfect skiing pleasure. And when hunger and thirst strike, numerous ski huts and restaurants offer themselves for a “stop-off”.
What are the highlights?
As a special highlight for an unforgettable day of skiing, we recommend the “Glacier Tour”. 60 kilometers of slopes with varied descents and more than 15,000 meters of altitude make every skier’s heart beat faster. It is best to leave your car at the hotel and start in the morning with the ski bus, which stops directly in front of our Berg Hotel Kössler. From the Hintertux valley station, discover the fantastic “Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000”. Shuttle buses guarantee the connection to the other ski areas and so the “Glacier Tour” ends after a fulfilling day of skiing back in Hintertux. Culinary delights are provided for. It is best to always follow your nose – the irresistible scent of bacon dumpling soup, Wiener Schnitzel and Germknödel leads you to restaurants with wonderful sun terraces, as well as to cozy ski huts with open fireplaces.
1. Eggalm-Bahn
In the immediate vicinity of our Berg Hotel Kössler you will find the Eggalm cable cars. After only 10 minutes by car you reach the valley station in Lanersbach. The gondola ride up to the Eggalm offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Zillertal and Tux Alps. 2 chairlifts, 2 T-bar lifts, a children’s park and an idyllic winter hiking trail offer pure snow fun. Enjoy the magnificent slopes and the view of the Tyrolean mountains. Take a break and stop at one of the alpine pastures, such as the Egger Skialm or the Vogelnest – you have earned a refreshment!
2. Rastkogel cable cars
The Rastkogel cable cars are particularly suitable for families. 2 gondola lifts, 3 chairlifts and 3 T-bar and baby lifts guarantee a varied day of skiing. The Kidsslope Rastkogel with snow tunnel and snow waves invites the little adventurers to discovery tours. In the Lämmerbichl practice area, the turns can still be perfected. When the legs get tired and the appetite calls, several huts, such as Heidi’s Hütte, offer Tyrolean and international delicacies for the whole family. With the wonderfully long valley descent through the picturesque winter landscape to Lanersbach, only 13 minutes by car from the Berg Hotel Kössler, the eventful day of skiing comes to an end.
2. Finkenberg Almbahnen
We would also like to introduce you to the Finkenberg Almbahnen, about 20 minutes away from us by car. 2 gondola lifts, 2 chairlifts, 2 T-bars and 1 baby lift are at your disposal. “Pepi’s Kinderland am Penkenjoch” is the ideal place for first skiing attempts. “Pepi’s Kinderklub” in the Granatalm provides fun and professional care away from the skiing fun with playrooms and a climbing wall. This also offers parents more freedom for skiing adventures or for a rest in the deck chair with a view of the impressive mountain world.
