How do you prepare for skiing?

Hotel manager Karina Mader from the Kössler . Gletscher Hotel Hintertux reveals how to optimally prepare for a skiing experience on the Hintertux Glacier.
After this perfect winter, the snow conditions are fantastic here in the Zillertal!
That’s why we’ve put together a few tips for all our guests who will be visiting us in Hintertux soon.

The 5 best tips for ski preparation:

So you can prepare for your skiing vacation with us at the Kössler . Gletscher Hotel Hintertux from home:
  1. First things first: your safety on the slopes.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that you wear a helmet and – if possible – a back protector.
The fit is essential here. For example, the helmet should fit snugly when you shake your head slightly.
The size of the back protector should be perfectly adapted to your height.
  2. Protection from cold and sun:
Wearing a balaclava under the helmet is also particularly recommended in cold temperatures.
As is applying cold protection cream. This will perfectly protect your face from the cold. In addition, using sunscreen is essential – especially at higher altitudes, such as on the Hintertux Glacier.
  3. Your clothing:
Of course, wearing a good, waterproof ski suit is also necessary.
This will protect you from getting wet if it snows on the slopes. To protect against the cold, we would also recommend wearing good ski socks and long ski underwear, which should end above your ski boots. This will prevent painful pressure points in the shoes.
  4. Ski boots:
Another important point concerns your ski boots. These should be very comfortable and offer the best support.
As your feet expand when worn for longer periods, you should only close your shoes tightly before your first run.
As long as you are still in the gondola, it would be better to leave the buckles open. If you follow this rule, you will never have cold feet.
  5. Strength training:
To prevent injuries, you should complete targeted strength training before your vacation in our Gletscher Hotel Tux Hintertux.
When skiing, the core and abdominal muscles are particularly stressed, as are the ankle and knee joints. Therefore, you should strengthen exactly those areas of the body. You can achieve this by running, climbing stairs, doing squats and ice skating.

We at Hotel Kössler, the Gletscher Hotel Hintertux Tux in Zillertal, wish you lots of fun preparing!
