Autumn Holidays in the Tux Valley
Five idyllic valleys line one of the most
beautiful high-alpine villages - TUX. The impressive end of the valley
is formed by the Hintertux glacier, Austria's only and most attractive
whole-year ski area.
It is possible to go for great walks in the
valley and enjoy autumn in all its colours, while the first snow at
3,000 m altitude marks the start of the skiing season.
Autumn pow(d)er on the Hintertux Glacier
State-of-the-art ski lifts take you without
delay to the ski area, where up to 60 km of prepared slopes await you.
Right beside the top station at 3,250 m and thus accessible even for
people on foot, you can find the panorama terrace with its incredible
view of the surrounding 3,000 m peaks. There is a snowpark of
superlative proportions for snowboarders and freeskiers - the Better
Park with superpipe, kicker, rails and boxes. The après-ski scene in
the Sommerberg Arena takes care of an atmospheric end to your ski day.
SKI AREA testers have picked the
Hintertux Glacier as the "best glacier ski area of the world".
Hiking, Sport & Adventure
Hiking enthusiasts get what they want in Tux
even in the autumn. Cosy cabins and lifts are still operating and make
your hiking tour to beatiful pastures, mountain lakes and waterfalls
easier and more enjoyable. The Zillertal Active Card is still valid
until October - a combined ticket for ski lifts, train, and bus
services, as well as special rate and entrance ticket. There's action
for adventure lovers at canyoning through impressive gorges, at tandem
paragliding, at trekking through the Spannagel cave, or at a visit to
the Nature Ice Palace on the Hintertux Glacier.
Children
Let's go to the Snow Flea Park on the
Hintertux glacier. There area snow tube carousel, a giant gondola, a
bobsled run, a mini lift, and the snow flea photo station for all ski
lovers among you. In the valley you can prove your skills on the
Adventure Path Tuxbach or have fun on a visit to the Play Arena - a
1,000 m² indoor play park.
Tradition & Culture
At the end of September the annual cattle
train is celebrated by the big Hintertux Oktoberfest. Traditionally,
the cattle are adorned with beautiful bells and flowers and then driven
from the Bichlalm into the valley.
The event calender in Autumn includes classical concerts, parish
festivals, summit masses, and après ski parties.
